Answer yes if your organisation clearly informs all employees and contract staff how to access and utilise the whistleblowing procedure.

Whistleblowing is the term used when a worker passes on information concerning wrongdoing. This is also called “making a disclosure” or “blowing the whistle”. The wrongdoing will typically (although not necessarily) be something they have witnessed at work.

If your organisation has a Whistleblowing procedure in place it is important that your employees are made aware of it so that they can use it if needed.

How to implement the control:

Raising awareness of your Whistleblowing policy and procedure can be done in a number of ways, including:

  • Referencing the policy and process in employment contracts;
  • Including training on the whistleblowing procedure within employees annual training;
  • Running regular awareness campaigns that include the use of the whistleblowing procedure.
